It's Not a Southern Wedding Without Sweet Tea...

So we met with the caterer this past Friday, and we made an initial menu. I won't tell you what it is because it's supposed to be a surprise, but just know that it's lots of yummy finger foods! She will also be doing both the wedding cake and the groom's cake. I will be meeting with her again some time in January so she can come by and see The Library Ballroom, where we will be having our reception. I have to say a big "thank you" to my wonderful mother, who unflinchingly paid the 1/3 deposit on the catering - not a small amount, I must say.

Next on the list is calling my dress shop to make sure my gown has been ordered, to book the musician, and to setup follow-up appointments with all my vendors after the New Year. The groom and I also need to start seriously thinking about getting invitations and registering for gifts sometime soon.

My MOH and I already have some great ideas for sweet goodies to adorn the tables, and I have been picking up little decorative things here and there for a more personal touch at our reception.

Let Them Eat Cake!

Doug and I went to Publix yesterday to pick up a birthday cake for a friend, and we quickly looked through their wedding cake book while we were there. They actually have some fairly nice designs at a very reasonable price, so we will keep them in mind when we are shopping for cake.

This is a design that I like a lot, but I would use flowers that match our arrangements and possibly a different color of icing:

I have found out in my searching how many extremely ugly wedding cakes there are out there...

I also went and saw Dawn on Wednesday to get my hair cut and colored. We talked extensively about wedding day hair, and I decided to let my hair start growing out again since I chopped it off for the summer. We're hoping for some long locks that could be put up nicely for the big day. My hair grows pretty quickly, so as long as I don't go crazy and chop it off next summer, it should be really long by then. She's got me and the three girls down in her book for that day, as well as for plenty of trial sessions with me and Morgan. Dawn was so excited to hear I was engaged - she's known me since I was 13 years old, and I think she's been looking forward to this day since then.
