The groom and I went to church yesterday morning. I approached the sweet woman that will be playing the piano for our wedding - Alice. She has been a long-time family friend of mine. She is really close with my mother. Her son was great friends with my brother way back when, when we all went to school together.
She was so sweet, and she told me as our wedding gift she would notify the church that she wasn't going to charge us! That's a whole $250 we've saved! But I will definitely make sure that she gets a really nice gift for being so sweet to us.
We also talked to our preacher about doing our premarital counseling. While the groom's grandad will be officiating our wedding, we wanted our preacher to also have a hand in our big day and helping our marriage start on the right foot. (Not to mention, counseling will give us a discount on our license!)
We will probably start counseling sometime in January.
